I love country music, I love soapy TV, I love Connie Britton and I extra-love shows that sell their music so I can walk around all day with my favorite stars singing to me. I had so much TV that I wanted to watch this fall that I didn’t get around to watching Nashville till Christmas time when ABC kindly put all the episodes on demand so I could become completely addicted while everything else was in reruns. Now, if you think when I say country music I am talking about the type of things you hear on the radio, not so. The music of Nashville is coordinated by T. Bone Burnett and has more in common with old school country and folk than anything that’s popular in country today. The soundtrack is a great album with songs written by Elvis Costello and the Civil Wars.
I am not even sure how to explain how great this show is, I am so attached to the characters and it is nearly unbearable to wait a week between episodes. It is definitely a nighttime soap but it’s well acted and the storylines somehow seem totally reasonable but with enough gasp moments and cliffhangers to keep you on the edge of your seat. And if you don’t believe me…check out these reviews from the LA Times, the New York Times and from a Glamour writer as obsessed as I am.
Please watch so I can talk about this show with more people.
