Looking Lovely: A guide to the internet ladies who inspire me

Fall is forever associated with new wardrobes for me, ever since I got my first back to school outfit (pink oversize giraffe shirt, leggings and colored converse…all of which I would probably still wear). I love thumbing through the oversized September issues and translating the designer outfits into something I could reasonably afford and wear in polite society. Fashion blogs, Instagram and Pinterest are all great inspiration for how real women put together outfits and how to incorporate something you love that seems impractical into your wardrobe.

Fashion Bloggers:

The Glamourai: If I could only be one fashion blogger, I would be the Glamourai with her international travel, weekends at the coast and her unique style. She is edgy, glamorous and not afraid to wear giant jewelry.

Man Repeller: The subtitle of this site should be making things that should be ugly fashionable. After discovering that I loved everything in my man repeller themed Glossybox, I fell hard for the humor and style of Leandra Medine. I can’t wait to read her book.

Atlantic Pacific: A former San Francisco based employee of Gap Inc, I appreciate her classic style with whimsical touches and her dedication to stacks of bracelets. Since she has been in New York working for Tory Burch, her style has more of an east coast edge.

Kelly Wearstler: Fashion designer, interior decorator, jewelry designer Kelly Wearstler finds inspiration all around her and shares it through her various platforms.

Who What Wear: Covering celebrity, runway and blogger fashion.

The Coveteur: Showcasing the wardrobes and homes of the stylish.

Tory Burch: The Tory Blog shares the designer’s inspirations and interesting stories.

Instagram Eye Candy: @nicolerichie, @beyonce, @gigiguerra1 (Target Design Parnership Curator), @real_kate_foley (stylist), @loefflerandall (shoe designers), @mindykaling (I covet her whole life, including her fashion), @rachelantonoff (designer), @evachen212 (Editor of Lucky)

Little Shakes

No, it's not Brigadoon, it's fall in Humboldt

I was just shaken to my core twice, once by the latest episode of Homeland, then by the little earthquake that shook my apartment. Being way too involved with television characters can be a little stressful sometimes. I was glad to read this post showing I am not the only one with this problem. I particularly love how she confesses to not watching Breaking Bad. I often feel weird admitting the must watch shows that I haven’t seen yet.

I don’t know how I missed that Jane Pratt of my beloved teenage Sassy and mid-twenties Jane magazines has a website called XO Jane. So many intriguing things to read.

Getting my daily news without scouring the internet just became a lot easier with the Daily Skimm. Cleverly written, it captures the major stories in a daily email I can read in the time it takes to drink my coffee.

It still feels like summer but when I feel the nighttime chill I get excited for sweater weather. These adorable rain boots from Joules are making me hope for a lot more rain this year.

The weather may not scream fall but I am ready for stew season. Made this super tasty crockpot African Peanut Stew but added chicken and took out the rice. I poured it over spinach so it just wilted in the bowl. So good!

Songs I can’t get enough of this week: Into the Wild by LP, Roar by Katy Perry and Wake Me Up by Avicii (Common theme: adventure anthems that make me feel pumped up for the next turn in the road).

Where I go to find out the magnitude of what just shook my apartment.

Fall TV 2013: Make New Friends but Keep the Old

The Fall TV Preview of Entertainment Weekly arrived Saturday and new seasons start tomorrow, it is officially the most exciting time of the television year! I look forward to seeing what my old friends have in store and making some new ones.

New Friends
The Goldbergs (Premieres Tuesday, September 24th 9:00 pm on ABC): Jeff Garlin, Eighties family sitcom plus the original title of this show was “How the F**k am I Normal.”

Trophy Wife (Premieres Tuesday, September 17th 9:30 pm on ABC): As the product of a family with multiple marriages, I can’t wait to see how they mine the third wife’s experience with the exes and step kids for comedy gold. Plus Malin Akerman is hilarious.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Premieres Tuesday, September 17th 8:30 pm on Fox): Andy Samberg as a jokey cop in a show referred to by some cast members as “The Wire with jokes.”

Mom (Premieres Monday, September 23rd 9:30 pm on CBS): Anna Faris plays a warm hearted kooky person with excellence. It will be interesting to see how she does as the sober alcoholic single mom dealing with her own issues while coming to terms with her sober alcoholic mother played by the hilarious Allison Janney.

Ravenswood (Premieres Tuesday, October 22nd 9:00 pm on ABC Family): Teenagers deal with a mystery on ABC Family…all I need to know to watch.

The Millers (Premieres Thursday, October 3rd 8:30 pm on CBS): Will Arnett finds himself dealing with the single life and his newly single parents, played by Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale.

Reign (Premieres Thursday, October 17th 9:00 pm on CW): The story of Mary, Queen of Scots as told for a teenage audience…not sure how this will work but I am intrigued by the costumes and the court drama.

The Betrayal (Premieres Sunday, September 29th 10:00 pm on ABC): A new primetime soap on ABC family gets a shot from me every year and this story of an affair with consequences is my choice for this year.

Old Friends
The Mindy Project (Premieres Tuesday, September 17th 9:30 pm on Fox): What scrapes will Mindy find herself in this year? And what will James Franco do to make me giggle in the premiere?

Nashville (Premieres Wednesday, September 25th 10:00 pm on ABC): The season finale was so dramatic, my heart rate is still slowing down.

Parks & Recreation (Premieres Thursday, September 26th 8:00 pm on NBC): Giggles, heartwarming, what will Ron Swanson do this year?

Arrow (Premieres Wednesday, October 9th 8:00 pm on CW): What will the vigilante superhero get up to this year? And how many gratuitous shirtless sequences will we get?

Hart of Dixie (Premieres Monday, October 7th 8:00 pm on CW): Wade or George or Jonah or another mystery man? Who will Dr Hart choose and what will she wear while she makes up her mind?

Friday, Friday, everyone loves FRIDAY!

I have been busy social butterflying around the state and am really looking forward to a weekend of catching up with television, magazines and the hilarity of the interwebs.

Some of my favorite things to entertain through the weekend:

The world’s most inspirational politician meets the world’s most inspirational singer/dancer/fashionista/all around amazing person.

I can't stop listening to The Love Club EP by Lorde (you have probably heard Royals on the radio), it feels like the soundtrack to the life I want.

Candy Crush, I am not sure if I recommend it or just want other people to also be thinking about big candies and stripes all the time.

Examining the 25 most important wombats of all time got me through a long week.

Dreaming of fantasy vacations is one of my favorite pastimes so I loved this list of places to see from Refinery 29.

Leave it to the Bold Italic to wonder why men with long hair don't indulge in updos.
