Hard to believe that is already 2012 and that it has been more than a month since I last posted on here (I feel excessively guilty for depriving you of my random thoughts and finds). First I was busy with the holidays, then I couldn’t help but notice that I wrote 50 posts in 2011 and I couldn’t mess that beautiful round number up with my ramblings about Christmas songs and my obsession with glitter. I love the feeling of a new year, a fresh calendar to fill with fun activities. I like to start the year off with lists of things I want to do and experience. I already made my way to the beach in San Francisco one sunny day in January, something I have never done in 5 years of living here.
I carefully review all the end of the year best lists to figure out what I should be watching and reading in the year ahead. Make your own list by checking out the AV Club, NPR (Books, Movies, Music we haven’t even heard about yet, 100 favorite songs, and even more music suggestions) or Entertainment Weekly. The AV Club even helpfully provided a list of the pop culture to look forward to in 2012. Could I be more excited for the Hunger Games movie (have you read the books yet….and why not….you have till March)?
Downton Abbey is back on Masterpiece Theater and the world is as in love with it as I am. If you are not already into it, check out the first season streaming on Netflix. If you are already a fan, tell me immediately to I can begin talking to you excitedly about it. If my word that it’s amazing isn’t good enough, Gawker has a great list of reasons why you should be watching it to try to convince you.
In case you have been living in a facebook-less cave, you must watch Shit Girls Say immediately. Then watch Shit Nobody Says (and disregard the comment about Oakland, so untrue).
Speaking of Oakland, I am expecting lots of visitors since it was ranked #5 on the New York Times list of 45 places to visit in 2012 (only two below Myanmar!). I also enjoyed the local Huffington Post’s list of things they love about Oakland.
2012 is a big year for me and it’s good to know that other people have survived turning 30 and continuing to live the city lifestyle.
Can’t wait to see what else this year has in store!
