Two of my favorite things: presents and new beauty products. Beauty Boxes are a present delivered to me every month filled with new beauty products. It all started when Refinery 29 did a side by side comparison of a few different beauty box subscriptions. Beauty Boxes are a subscription service where you receive a monthly box of either sample or full size products, from perfumes to skin care to hair care to makeup. You can pay each month or pay ahead for a certain number of boxes. Most of the services also have websites where you can buy any of the products you liked and get rewarded the more money you spend. They also make great gifts for friends who also love beauty products.
I am currently subscribed to Birchbox and Glossybox. I started with just Birchbox after doing my research. At $10 a month or $110 a year it’s a pretty amazing deal, although it’s very rare to get a full size product. I have fallen in love with more new brands than I would like admit through Birchbox. I got lured into subscribing to Glossybox with a great deal. At $20 a month Glossybox feels like more of a commitment. I wasn’t crazy about the first box but when I read that the next box was a collaboration with a beauty blogger, I thought I would give it one more chance to impress me…and it did.
Here is a rundown on the January box for each:
Birchbox:
Ojon damage reverse™ Instant Restorative Hair Serum: Used once and wasn’t super impressed
alessandro Nail Polish: Got Blue Lagoon, the most perfect blue grey I have been searching for
theBalm® cosmetics Put a Lid On It™ :Haven’t tried yet
Harvey Prince Skinny Chic - 50ml: Like most perfumes, smells lovely but not my taste
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream: Nothing to write home about as a lotion in terms of smell and consistency
Glossybox:
Sebastian Professional Potion 9 : Haven’t tried
ESTÉE LAUDER Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara : Amazing mascara! I think this will end up in the shopping basket
LE MÉTIER DE BEAUTÉ Replenishing Daily Solution: Loved this creamy face lotion until I realized it was over $200 a jar…
O.P.I “Can‘t Let Go“ Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer: Glitter purple nail polish that dries matte…in LOVE!
Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum: Haven’t tried yet
Tarte glamazon™ pure performance 12-hour lipstick : I am not a lipstick person but this may convert me if I can accustom myself to seeing bright red lips on my face.
