Feed Your Sherlock Obsession

There aren’t a lot of popular fiction characters from the 1880s that are still inspiring books, television series and movies but Sherlock Holmes is a unique character in many ways. He remains a rich source of inspiration and one I personally can’t get enough of. While I try to remain patient waiting for the next season of Sherlock on PBS, I am enjoying the original stories that are available for free on Kindle (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes and The Sign of the Four) and modern novels centered around Sherlock Holmes or those obsessed with him.

The Sherlockian-Graham Moore

The Sherlockian alternates between a modern day society of Sherlock Holmes obsessives who have to solve the mystery of the murder of one of their members and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle working to find a serial killer following his decision to end the Sherlock Holmes series. I enjoyed the combination of mystery, literary obsession and historical fiction in this novel.

House of Silk-Anthony Horowitz

House of Silk was the first novel to be licensed by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s estate and is told years after Holmes’s death by Watson. It’s a case so scandalous, it had to wait to be published. House of Silk is a great mystery with twists and turns and the kind of deductions only Sherlock Holmes could make.

The Baker Street Series-Michael Robertson

In the Baker Street series, a lawyer takes an office at the legendary address 221 Baker Street. He overlooks a clause in the lease that requires him to answer letters sent there for Sherlock Holmes. When his brother takes over the task of answering the letters, the brothers are quickly drawn into a mystery involving of all things, a subway in L.A. The relationship between the brothers is great and the mysteries intriguing in this series.

Now what else can I read...
